Behaviour and Attitudes

• A Nurturing Environment: Great learning requires a calm, purposeful space. We prioritise creating safe, welcoming classrooms where children feel secure and valued.

• Our Behaviour Curriculum: Excellent behaviour is explicitly taught, not just expected. We use a clear, shared language across the school so that children understand what respect and responsibility look like in practice.

• Pride and Independence: We encourage children to take genuine pride in their work, care for their school environment and build the independence they need to take ownership of their learning.

Our Curriculum Intent and Ambition

• The Big Picture: Every subject is guided by clear end-points detailing exactly what we want children to know and be able to do by the time they leave us. We plan the curriculum so that content increases in complexity year-on-year, intentionally building connections between topics to ensure a deeper, more permanent understanding. • Text-Rich Foundation: High-quality literature is central to our curriculum. We use carefully selected texts to enrich vocabulary, inspire curiosity, and introduce big ideas across cultures and historical eras. Crucially, literature is used to deepen engagement while respecting the distinct integrity, rigor, and identity of each individual subject.

• Enrichment: We believe learning should be lived, experienced and remembered. We bring the curriculum to life by immersing children in real-world contexts and expert-led experiences. Whether investigating local environments as real-world geographers, exploring our heritage at Verulamium, stepping back in time at the Lincolnsfield WWII Centre, or collaborating with visiting artists and musicians, every experience is purposefully mapped to deepen learning and build character.
